Please suggest a great camera that does the above. I am missing lots of good photos of the kids because I don't want to carry my larger camera around. Want to have a small one with me at all times but want great photos. Used to Canon, but willing to change. Would like a good zoom and short shutter lag.

The Canon 95 sounds great, but too big for what I am looking for. I am considering waiting for the Sony TX10. Any opinions about the Cyber-shots that are out there now, example the TX5?
The TX series are good choices.
The only real complaint is battery life (shots per charge).
Remember - a very small camera has a very small battery.
Reviews show that battery life is less than advertised.
Usually about 150.
But you can always carry an extra battery.

What you really looking for is the Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ-10!
No other camera can beat it!
You will be surprised about the possibilities in HD and further more.
DO NOT FORGET TO DISABLE GPS!
Then you can do a long time with one battery charge!

I bought Sony DSC HX5V. Though it got smaller lens than Sony HD 1080 camcorders, and picture quality may be slightly weaker on big screen TV (55 - 60"), otherwise it is quite sharp than may be other cameras.
It has 4 music effect slide shows which can be recorded on disc by DVD Recorder. In another mode of slight show, it will play recorded clips and show pictures without music. It is good in low light also to record video. I have 250 gb HD Sony camcorder but in small parties and other places I used this for snaps and videos in my memory stick or sd cards. Lots of features like Burst, Trimming, Timer, micro, etc. checkout reviews on websites.
