Question

Plex Server & Win 7 Home Group

Apr 9, 2016 9:05AM PDT

I'm going to build a Plex server. I have a PC that I built last year as a Hackintosh just to see if I could do it. I did it, and then I changed the OS to Win 7 HP. Now, I want to turn that into a Plex server. As I'm a big movie buff. And want to share my films with friends, etc.

My Laptop, Gaming Rig, and my PC are all on Win 7 Home Group. But, the one thing it doesn't do is show the HDD's. It only shows my C: drive and all the usual folders. Doc/Photo/Music. Is there a way to make the HDD's Discoverable? across the home group?

One forum answer was to create a Link in the Video Folder to the Drive. While I could put a link to my E:, F: drives, etc. Clicking on them had no effect.

With a Dedicated PC that will have all of the movies on it, and not spread between 3 computers. I want all the drives in the PC discoverable to my other two computers.

I have 3 WD Red 3TB HDD's installed. Designated E:, F:,G:. The Plex Software is not installed yet on any of the PC's The PC will be the server and the gaming rig and laptop clients.

Any help and advice will be appreciated.

TIA Happy
