Please, somebody, do a true count on the XBOX 360

Jul 25, 2010 4:00AM PDT

Well I always hear from all my Microsoft pals how well the 360 sells...don't get me wrong, I broke down and got one. But I am getting tired of hearing how many more have sold than my "Inferior" PS3. My point to them, and I suspect that I am correct, is that a vast majority of those sold are people buying multiple systems. Take my circle for example...10 people who have 360's, and ALL, I mean All of them have bought at least 2...some even 3. So my point is, has Microsoft sold a crap load of these because of 1..faulty hardware making a replacement a must, 2..adding features that should have been in the original product, 3...Fanboys just "needing" to have the newest box? I suspect that the PS3 has ACTUALLY OUTSOLD the 360 if you take all of this into account

It has been out longer, the Wii is the best selling of all.
Replacments do not count as sales #.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Console_wars#Current_generation

Worldwide sales figures
Wii ? 70.9 million as of 31 March 2010[30]
Xbox 360 ? 41.7 million as of 23 July 2010[31]
PlayStation 3 ? 35.7 million as of 31 March 2010[32]

It is always good to have something like real numbers to back up one's argument, not just truthlyness.

& the best gaming device is a PC desktop not the Wii, Xbox or the PS3.

There are cons & pros of the 3 game consoles..

Wii: no HD & power brick problems but has some very fun family games, slot loader drive & there is the little thing of motion gaming is cool

Xbox 360: RRoD on older models & no bluray drive for games but online gaming is great & considering it just has a DVD drive it has good PQ on the games, not as good as PS3 or a PC.

PS3: software problems & some of the 1st units had diode problems & the online gaming could be better ( that should be fixed when they start charging for online game play) but has Bluray for better PQ games, a slot loader for games, & size (slim version).

It is too bad that all 3 do not get together and built the best console ever made; Wii's motion gaming, family games, reliable system, Xbox live, PS3 BD slot loader drive & size, all thrown together would make a very nice console. But that will never happen so we customers have to buy each.
My self I just got a xbox360-S after 1.5-2 years of not having a 360 but the Wii at the new price with all those sports games included is very tempting too get, maybe this winter I will get a Wii.

I guess I should have been more specific

I didn't bring PC or Wii into it because I'm just looking at the two that are always argued about.
As far as doing research, I've seen those sales figures hundreds of times...(like the Colbert reference by the way)...What I am asking is how many of those 41.7 million are people that have bought multiple systems, whether it be for replacement, or to upgrade..So my point is that the gap between the two may not be what it looks to be. I know, and have read of numerous people buying multiple 360s due to hardware failure and/or wanting to upgrade for storage, color, or new features. So you're point of replacements not counting, although I get, I think you are missing the point of my question.

How many of those 6 million in the gap are for new install base vs upgrading or replacing.

And yes...I know PC is king...but out of my price range...at least what I am willing to spend for a hobby.
