Usually the K series HP printers are quite good, you didn't mention what kind of paper you are using and with an Inkjet printer it can matter. Use highbright inkjet paper for normal printing and for photo stay away from the high gloss paper, that can be an issue. If you do a lot of printing (1,000 a month or more) you may want to stay with a laser. Go to a local box store and do some test prints, most places have test set ups so that you can make a comparison. Hp lasers have been quite good, Canon makes a decent laser and the higher end Brother is pretty good as well. Look at laser cartridge costs as well, some can be pricey.
Hi, I do desktop publishing where I work from home, mainly doing wedding invitations.
I currently have a colour laser (the Epson AcuLaser C1100) but it doesn't seem to have brilliant colour (it also doesn't like thick cardstock).

Primarily I am interested in a printer that:
* produces brilliant colour results (by Epson does 2400dpi so nothing worse than that)
* has reasonably priced consumerables
* handles paper up to 250-280gsm
* Able to be used on various papers eg. metallics, vellum
For any advice I would be eternally grateful.
