Please Help with Video Capture

by timwerx / December 13, 2008 8:09 AM PST

I have successfully captured video many, many times (XP SP2, Canopus Analog/Digital Converter to IEEE-1394 port). It has always gone very well, but now it gives problems. Although I have everything set up as usual, the video is not getting in for some reason. It has been around 8 months since the last time I captured video, but except for installing and uninstalling a few programs, I really haven't made any changes to the system.

I get the usual "AVC Compliant DV Tape Recorder/Player" icon in My Computer, but opening it only gives me a gray rectangle where the video preview should be. I cannot figure out why it doesn't work anymore.

If anyone could give me suggestions about things to check, I'd be much obliged.

Thank you.
