please help with registry problems

While trying to fix performance problems and using spybot, I stupidly lost some registry extstions. There are 34 "invalid activex/com entries" and Norton can not fix them, nor can any of the other registry repair programs. I have also tried goback and system restore and they will not return to the restore points. Can this forum handle this? I have not found a way to copy the list of bad registy entries

Please help, Thanks
Saberme

Or is it a Norton issue?

In reply to: please help with registry problems

What Norton reports may have zero effect on system operation or performance.

Try this. What's not working that we can point to this Norton complaint and say "aha, it's right."

Thanks,
I can nor point to any thing that is not working, however, I have not used any thing other than IE6 and norton and a couple of other registry repair programs. there were 72 error messages and about half were invaild about powerpoint. I have uninstalled office and was about to reinstall. You are on to the nothings broke but I'm very anxious.

Saberme, you also need to know...

Norton has some errors in their software. A widespread version complained of a missing dll, but it wasn't missing. Norton's code was looking in the wrong directory.

To add insult to this, Symantec didn't patch their code but asked owners to copy the dll to where the program was looking for it.
