Hey Kornwheat...I am having the EXACT same issues with my audio. I upgrading my operated system from XP Professional to the new Windows Vista Home Premium. Everything seemed to be running fine and then today I noticed I had absolutely NO sound and it could not detect any sound card. After trying every single link from HP and Altec Lansing I couldn't find any good solution. I emailed HP support and have not heard a response.
I too am using an HP dv8000t laptop and it's VERY frustrating!! Please let me know if you find anything out!
I posted a thread here asking for help because I am having sound problems with audio output devices, there was none. This occurred immediately after I installed Vista a couple of days ago. I was told to install an Intel driver that needs to be installed with a .inf file. When I am manually installing it using the add new hardware wizard I direct the wizard to the folder the .inf file, but after I click OK to direct the wizard to the folder, the next button won't illuminate so I can click it to continue, and also nothing shows up in the box that displays the devices. Some one please help me, I am dieing without being able to play music through my brand new speakers. Also, My computer is a HP Pavilion dv8000t Notebook PC. Please help me!
