But what sort of programming?
Jan 15, 2020 12:45PM PST

I'm going to write there is NO WINNER because either will do for college courses I see offered here in SoCal, USA.

But sometimes a student is after a gamer PC but won't tell that up front. Anyhow, either looks more than capable for college level programming.

unfortunately it's hard to tell exactly

Thanks for the answer! Laptop is necessary for studying in college, most likely c# language. Laptop won't be used for gaming Happy
Cause price doesn't vary to much (first is just a bit cheaper), I would like to choose the one that is more powerful. The one thing that makes me doubt is that second laptop named above has LPDDR3. Does it affect much with the listed parameters?

The RAM speed does not matter that much.(for the use at top)

"Intel Core i7-10510U advantages
The processor supports faster LPDDR4x-2933 memory, while the i7-8565U CPU is limited to 2400 MHz data rate."

My quick look finds the memory timing to be nearly the same.

Remember your statement at top is "Laptop is necessary to study programming." It was not which might benchmark or game better.

The reason these look like the usual "college student wants a laptop but doesn't want to admit they want to game" are the GPUs in these. For strictly college work you can get by with nice 1080p LCDs, an i5, 8 or 16GB RAM and all SSD. These machines far exceed what today's students would need.

-> Let's try this another way since the statement at top stands.

Which one offers the longer warranty?

Both offers only 1 year varanty

LPDDD3 2133 MHz and DDR4 2400 MHz

While I did compare the CPUs

The newer CPU is much better but you seem to think the 2133 vs 2400 MHz is a big deal (it wasn't.)

Both the CPU and GPU in the 1650 GPU unit are faster from what I read. The 1650 GPU is about 38% faster than the 1050 wiping out any effect from the memory MHz.

Even so, these far exceed what you are asking for in your top post.
