carry the necessary hardware to get you going. Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples all have wireless G routers and PCMCIA wireless network cards for your laptop. Which brand you choose is up to you, I have had equal success with Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, Trendware, Belkin. The only suggestion I have for a first timer, is to use the same brand components. This will help when it's time to call tech support.
This is embarrassing, I've read lots of reviews, looked thru a number of books, and still I don't know which Home Network Kit to buy. I want to network a laptop (Dell- Windows xP) and a desktop (Dell- Windows Me). What I would like to do would be to buy a 'kit' that would have all the components I need to begin this process. Right now, after reading many reviews, I am interested in the Netgear WGT624, which editors seem to like, though customer satisfaction seems less. I would also like to know what exactly do I need (components-wise), 'out of the box' to set myself up. I won't be working that far from the router, so distance capabilities are not my biggest concern. I appreciate any input. Thanks
