Please help Samsung YP-U3 J ZB MP3 Player wont switch on

It will light up and say its charging when I plug it into my laptop, it will recognise the device on my computer and let me add songs on to it and on the display it will say transferring files etc and now it says its fully charged.
I try and switch it on and nothing

I've tried doing the hard reset where you put the hold button on, and press and hold both the buttons on the top but it didnt work, I've tried doing that as I plug it into the USB, I've tried doing it when it is unplugged from the USB.

I've tried uninstalling the driver from my PC and reinstalling it and it reinstalls it fine and lights up and everything but wont switch on.

When I do the hard reset when its plugged in it does go blank as if its doing it but when I take it out and try to switch it on nothing.

Could anyone help me please? Do these batteries have a life capacity on them where if theyre not used for a certain amount of time they go dead and negative charged like I read somewhere? As I havent used it in a while and dont understand why it wont switch on and its exasperating me now! Im flying on Saturday and was really excited when I found it as thought I would have music but it doesnt seem to want to work

any ideas?

Oh and also I had tried to install the software CD that came with it (for the first time) and it came up with an error message, it did install but could this have affected it?
