Please Help Not sure what to do next

Good day,
Last Friday when I I turned on my system it asked for a password. Not remembering the password I left the stsytem alone till I could figure what to do next.(ACT 2) My better half pushed F-11 and did a system restore/recovery not sure at this point what command she prompted. I'm not sure at what stage the system is at now. I'am missing most of the software that I have installed. Should I rewipe the hard drive and start from the begining. I've tried to do a system restore but it takes me back only to the 11th and it's the same as it is now. Any help will be welcomed thanks

What Type Of 'a system restore/recovery ' Was Done?

If a recovery was made on your Windows XP Media Center machine using the the Recovery partition on the computer, then it's possible you only need to reinstall those few programs that are needed.. The F11 Recovery normally reformats and reinstalls the software back to factory condition..

If that's the case here, then you probably should move "forward" by installing your additional programs.
