PLEASE HELP ME With My 8300HDC Scientific Atlanta Cable Box

Nov 5, 2008 12:59AM PST

PLEASE HELP!!!!

My Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC DVR has an HDMI output. It is connected to my TV and AC3 sound is sent to my receiver. If I pause the current channel and then turn off the television (or change anything on the TV that handshakes with the HDMI cable), then the DVR responds by restoring the paused program to live TV and prevents any rewinding. In effect any change to any device connected to the HDMI port on the 8300HDC causes the DVR to act as if it has been powered off and back on again. With my former DVR I could leave a channel on, turn off the TV, go shopping, come back, turn on the TV and then rewind for up to the hour the DVR provides. This new box prevents that as it returns to live TV whenever the TV is turned off or turned on or the input is changed.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so PLEASE help me figure out a way to keep using HDMI (is there a unidirectional HDMI cable? is there a setting on the 8300HDC that would prevent the port from initiating a "reset"?

PLEASE HELP. If you need any further info or anything explained in more detail, please call me at (813) 679-5770.

Thanks for listening and I hope someone out there can help me. It is SOOOOOO annoying!

Sincerely,
Eric
