PLEASE help me pick the best monitor!!!!

by musique001 / March 21, 2007 3:18 PM PDT

Hello all,

I saw the following monitors @ newegg.com. Here we go:

#1. SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms Contrast Ratio 1000:1(DC 3000:1)

#2. LG L226WTX-BF Black 22" 2ms Contrast Ratio 3000:1

I would like to use it for photo/graphic purpose but I am getting confused about the contrast ratio, Aren't they all same?? Do i need to worry about contrast at all, since I am not using it for gaming? I can't decide which one to pick and I ain't that smart, can't you tell?? Happy So, your help is sincerely appreciated.

Many thanks,

don't be confused by contrast ratio

monitors with high contrast ratios typically have very high brightness... so bright you'll probably want to turn it down. if you're into serious photography and plan on calibrating the display, either one will do.

of the two, i'd go with the samsung since it comes with both a dvi and vga cable. i know the samsung is hdcp capable (needed if you plan on viewing hd movies under microsoft vista), but i'm not certain about the lg.
