I've spent about 6 hours during the past week doing research on pdf scanners and came to the conclusion (which I acted upon) that the Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110E0X2 is a great bargain. I'm not disappointed. I received the machine within a few days and installed it (but you should know that it requires an XP, my 2003 Windows was no good because of the requirements for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 included).
Some features: hopper feed; 15 sheets per minute, much faster than many copiers; option to send results by email to someone; option to give you searchable text underlying the image you have created in pdf format; small footprint - in fact is about the size of two shoes 8" high. Most importantly, as you will find, the price is right. I expect this machine to become an important part of my office equipment in the future.

Hi All!
Have a a HP Scanjet 4400c already. I have been struggling to find a scanner that will allow me to use an automatic document feed to scan my banking records (including checks), school assignments, portfolio items, household receipts, and preserve some b/w and color photos. I plan on creating searchable PDF documents and have Acrobat Standard 7.0.
Which should I buy? Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110E0X2 (price is ok) or HP 5590?
Appreciate everyone's help and time!
