HP lost me over their walking on the warranty. Imagine having spent 8+ hours on a support call that didn't fix it then they killed the machine in their repair system only to put me off for 6 months. At that point the message was clear. My last HP.

Hi guys, i'm hoping the community can give me some super quick advice on which laptop is better for me.. My mother is buying me a gift for graduating. getting two devices for my two different scenarios is not really an option for different reasons i wont go into here.
I'm in the market for a convertible laptop. I spend about half my time using tablet on the sofa, so i want something better than what i have now. This is where the tablet comes in. I dont want something too unwieldy, but i am unlikely to be using tablet mode other than when im on the sofa, or maybe on trains/planes etc.
but i also need something that can run work software. quite high end statistical packages, image analysis software, and MATLAB. this means i need at least an i5 processor and a decent amount of RAM. im also after something with QHD screen or above
so i've narrowed it down to two options.
HP spectre x360 13-4106na. 6th gen i7 2.5, 8gig RAM, QHD screen. ASH silver.
Lenovo YOGA 900. 6th gen i7, 8gig RAM, QHD+ screen, smaller HD, in gold.
i cen get the spectre for £880 refurbished (by HP). the yoga i can get for £845 new but out of box, but i dont like the colour
lol. both of these are really stretching my budget to the max..
i realise that the two are remarkably similar here, but would appreciate some opinions.
