Please Help. Deleted a folder i shouldn't have!

by lucy Meredith / July 1, 2004 2:28 AM PDT

I have deleted a folder (not realising). After this i went to the recycle bin to delete all the cookies i had put in there earlier and deleted everything in the recycle bin in one hit. Now i have just realised that this folder is missing. I think i have deleted it out of the recycle bin to. Is there any way of getting it back. I hope so! Please help asap. Many thanks Lucy.

Usually, files can be recovered. There are various
programs with different capabilities. Usually, these programs are expensive. "Undelete 4.0" has some freeware and shareware options. You can find a "more capable" (and more expensive) one at, called "recover it all".
Providing the files have not been overwritten, you can get them back!

If you deleted the folder and emptied Recycle Bin, then there is no native windows XP mechanism to recover them.

In this case, you can use third party utilities that can search the entire hard drive and shows you the results, so you can recover some of them. I'll give you some examples:

DIY DataRecovery DiskPatch 1.0

PC Inspector File Recovery

You'll find on those pages other related utilities too, for example: File-Saver.

1. The recovery process should be done on another PC. In other words, don't download, install and run them on your PC. Why ? Because some of your deleted files will be unrecoverable for good.

2. Some of those utilities have different versions for FAT/NTFS so, choose them accordingly.

Good Luck,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
