please help...about blank-bagle32?!?

Sep 1, 2004 5:34PM PDT

My browser has opened up extra windows once so far, 2 windows, one said welcome and the other about blank. I had read something about- about blank so I immediately shut things down. I restarted my system, and ran spybot s&d, anti vir 9x, trend micro's house call, and a Panda online scan all of which came up empty handed. Then I searched the web for an outside opinion and ran one (eek-I dont remember what) that came up with what looked like a bagle (variant?) but the scan tool wouldn't remove it unless I pay, which I cant. Any suggestions to investigate further? Please note I tried to find the about blank discussion in the security forum and couldn't identify it. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE

If you think you have a virus, you can get "stinger" for free. Here's the link

About blank just means no site is specified so seeing this is not necessarily a threat.

Jodi, Not All 'About:blank' Screens Are Viruses
Sep 2, 2004 9:19AM PDT

Frequently a website coding call will load a small "About:blank" window just before it loads the main page. It can result because a javascript didn't load correctly or the ActiveX patching is working correctly. Sometimes that small "About:blank" window will remain as a "pop under" until you close it. In this case, it's not really harmful, although it's certainly worth checking using the previous advice given.

The "About:blank" homepage hijacker will actually load an entire page and stay that way as your homepage. Is that the case here or did you see the smaller "About:blank" window?

Hope this helps.

Grif
