my g3 imac has been acting up lately. i;ve been running os x on it for years, no problem, 10.4 for months, no problem. recently though, whenever a popup menu appears the spinning color wheel appears and it crashes or freezes. also when i try to mount a disk image it shows the icon, then goes away. Can anyone help me? i've run yasu, disk utilities (repair partitions) and disk warrior. Thanks for any help you can give.

I ran all those programs again, to no avail. I finally decided to re install os x. i tried to install it with my files stil on the disk, and i got a message saying "could not delete file". This was the first time i had ever encountered that message, and the installation thing quit. Then i restarted, and it wouldnt boot the system! after trying many different things, i finally booted up norton from the cd, then copied my hard drive to an external hard drive, then did a clean install. THen i realized that the panther disk i had was an install, not an update, so i installed that next, then copied all my files (not system files, only media & progs) back to the internal, and im re setting it all up now. That was the first major problem i've ever had using a mac. And it was still loads easier than a windows error *shudders*. Well anyway the problem is fixed. THanks guys!
