I am going to be making a home theater very soon in my home. But own a low buget. I have seen and really like the JVC in a box home theater 1000 wt system. It is the one with 2 tall standing speekers and 2 small satalite speekers and subwoofer and a 5 DVD changer. Now I have also seen on tv the new BOSE 321 GS I think its called. It has to small satalite speekers and a subwoofer and a DVD player. I have heard the older Bose 321 system and really like it but not the new one as of now. I am still looking for one to hear for myself. Now the JVC is $399.95 and the Bose is a wopping $1200.00 something dollers. Now I do not know if I can see paying that kind of money for that. But on the other hand Bose is a very good system. But I have heard that Bose is getting alot of bad rattings to. Please help I would like to hear someones idea on this thanks.

personally like both systems. The JVC is really not that powerfull even though it rates at 1000 watts. I really like to bose system but if you are putting it in a large room I don't think it can carry enough sound. Both system are lacking on inputs and outputs as well. Try looking into a denon or onkyo system as well.

I've just set up a home theater on a low budget. I'm certainly not an expert but I will share some thoughts with you from my experience.

First, I haven't heard the JVC system you mentioned. You should look on www.avsforum.com for info on it. Note that the people on that site can be rough on ''newbies'' that ask questions without searching the forum first. I've found that to be an informative site.

Second, the Bose system is good but not great and for that kind of money you can do A LOT better. That, of course, is my opinion. I have a Bose wave radio that I really like, so I'm not Bose basher. However, I also live 15 minutes away from a Bose store and have seen and heard their ''ultimate home theater'' and came away unimpressed. Those little Bose cubes don't really cut it and don't even get me started on the sub-woofer.

I decided to go with a basic Yamaha HT receiver (HTR-5540) and speakers from an internet company called AV123 (www.av123.com) I went with their RS250s and a UFW-10 sub. That may be over your limit but they make systems starting from $500. I have been very pleased with their products and service so I highly recommend them. Other internet retailers that get great reviews are axiomaudio and ascendacoustics (just add the www .com and you can see their sites.)

Hope that this helps and good luck.

THE main reason I do not go to theater movies any more, is because I can't take the earthquakes that the studios think will impress the audiance. Home theater is sooo much better.
I truly hate it for the cinema/movie industry, but geeze, close the theaters, and make only hi-def films to be bought on pay per view.
/close rant....
