If you are talking about value and picture quality, it is a tossup. Both produce excellent photos and both can be found for about $150-160.

They are actually in two different catagories.
The Nikon 2200 is a point-and-shoot camera.
The Canon A60 is an intermediate camera. It can be used as point-and-shoot but it also has manual overrides that can give the user more control over the camera.

If you are looking for a point-and-shoot, it is still a tossup. If you want manual override controls, the Caonon A60 is the choice.

The Canon A60 will get more photos per set of batteries, mainly because it uses 4 AA batteries while the Nikon 2200 uses only 2 AA batteries.
With either one, you should purchase a set of rechargeable NiMH batteries.

One photography web site shows that the Canon A60 is now out of production. Perhaps you can leverage a better price based on that.
