"Please check PC display settings" message

Dec 25, 2003 4:55PM PST

That message comes up when i start my computer. What i believe previously led to this was that i download the new version 3.9 of stepmania (www.stepmania.com) and i changed the graphics options on it. That message came up and i disregarded it and simply pressed alt+tab and continued on with my business. When i start my computer again, that message still keeps going there. I pressed alt+f4 and i heard the windows ME welcome sound. I know everything is running fine its just that i cant SEE anything. If i press the start button on my keyboard, i hear a click. If i press a program,(such as finance, e-mail, etc.) i hear it start up.

the message is in a blue little box and it keeps appearing all over my screen. I tried restarting in safe mode (by pressing shift or f8 on my keyboard) but there is just techincal mumbo jumbo.

Thank you in advanced to all those who take the time to read this and especially to those who respond. Happy

(NT) Safe Mode. Set the display to 640x480 in the Display Properties, then reboot.

To get into safe mode in Windows ME

1. Turn on the computer.

2. As the computer restarts, press and hold down the Ctrl key until the startup menu appears.

3. Choose Safe mode from the startup menu, and then press Enter. Windows starts in Safe mode.

I'm having the same problem after trying to download the new Windows Media Player. I get this message: "Please check PC display settings". I'm running Windows XP. I booted in safe mode and changed the display settings but I didn't have the 640x480 option. I changed it from the current setting and didn't work. I got the same message on the screen again. HELP!!!
