You really don't need to read them.

[Also .PHP3 & .PHP4 or .PH3 & .PH4] These are text files used on a server to generate HTML files sent to a browsing user. The term PHP is no longer an acronym, but a term unto itself. It is often written PHP: Hypertext Processor but the latter two words are not really necessary. ...

They really don't mean much to you unless you're having some issue related to Web browsing.

There was a bug in some download accelerator as well as some web site in that the file name was incorrect after the download.

What they didn't tell you (that site!) was to RENAME the file.php to file.avi to get it to play.

rename the files

In reply to: Please can anyone help me read PHP files

I also was unable to read php files until I learned that I simply needed to save them to my desktop and then rename them as .pdf files. For example, the document would appear on my desktop as MetaViewer.php. I right click on the name and change it to (say the file is about a city council meeting agenda) to citycouncilmtg.pdf.
Voila!
Hope this helps.
