General discussion

Please advice me.

Hi All,

I am a designer and want to buy a laptop for my daily job. This might be a boring question but I am little bit confused on that. I have some preferences, please tell which is the best for me.

1. MacBook Pro Core 2 duo-2.8Ghz, 4-6 GB Ram
2. Dell "i7 Extreme" or "Core 2 Extreme" laptops up to 8GB Ram
or
3. HP i7 laptops up to 6-8GB Ram.

I use CS4 - PS, Ills, DW, Premier, All major browsers, Video editing SWs.

I work at least 10 - 12 hrs a day. But I am not gamer.

Other than the general reviews I need some personal recommendations.

Thanks,
Ram.

All these are great machines. However the i7 models are new designs which give me pause as I like to wait a year to see if they nailed it. We only need to remember the history to see why.

Having said that my office supplied me with a hp dv6-1361sb which is less than 1K and I have one quibble. The keyboard is a little too slick for my liking. It is a little warm due to all that is stuffed in there but after I tilted up the back it cools a bit better and the angle helped with keyboard ergonomics.

Get out there and try out the 3 machines. It is possible there is something that you can't stand about each one and the would reduce your list.
