Presumably you are connecting the mp3 to the hifi using the mp3's headphone socket. Have you tried raising the level of the headphone volume and setting the hifi volume knob at a 'normal' leve until you get the right amount of sound without distortion.
Hi. I think this has been raised before, but in a different way and i'm still confused. Please forgive me if I'm repeating.
I have a Philips MP3 player. Downloaded tunes and ripped from CD to it. sounds perfect on headphones. I can play it in the car via a cable ( jack) which is connected into the Head Unit. However, when i connect it to my Sony amp on a separates system with a jack to RCA cable, the sound is really bad. Very low and muffled. If I turn the volume up really , really high on the amp I get to hear the music, but it's nothing like it should sound. Am I missing something? Do I need a preamp? One post on here said to connect via the tape deck first and use that as a pre amplifier. how? I just want to make playlists and leave it connected so that it plays contnuously without having to change CD's etc.
Many thanks for your help.
