General discussion

playing online videos on TV from tablet/phone

Dec 9, 2013 5:32PM PST

Hello all!

Is there a solution for viewing an online video shared from tablet or phone?

The setup:
LG 660S
HTC Android phone
Asus Android tablet

There are multiple apps for Android, where I can watch online videos on my tablet/laptop (TV portal, etc.), nicely categorized and collected from all the video sharing sites (putlocker, movshare, etc.)
Since there are no such apps for the LG smart TV - and I'm not even hoping to get one in the near future - my question is if there is somehow a solution to send a link to the TV which orders the tv to play that online video and not through cable/wifi from the tablet. (like the youtube send to device)

Out of curiosity I'm interested in the second option as well, whether is there a way to send out an online video that is being played on the tablet/phone through wifi? (Like screen sharing, so this time the tablet itself plays the video and the tv functions as a screen)

thank you for your tips and advice,
Bela

If your tablet/phone has a hdmi-out, just connect it to the hdmi-in of your TV using a hdmi-cable.

If your TV doesn't have an app to play it directly, and no way to receive a wireless signal, that's all there is.

It does have an hdmi output, but as mentioned I would like to solve this Wireless.
The TV has wireless reception, the Wireless Display with the PC functions perfectly.
