I tried playing a .mov file within my IE 6.0 browser and it completely freezes my computer shortly after it starts. This will also sometimes happen when I play a video clip with Windows Media Player, altho not as often.

.mov files are QuickTime files, and will not play with Windows Media Player. You need either Apple's crappy player or something like MediaPlayer Classic with QuickTime Alternative.
