Playing back non digital tapes

Jul 24, 2006 9:31AM PDT

Ok I have a Sony Digital 8 camera and recently a pal gave me a tape full of footage with the aim of editing it on my pc and such. His camera is not a digital 8 but hey it says 8 and the tapes are the same so it will work, I thought. Plus I had previously had a non digital tape and been able to tape on it etc.

However when I went to play the tape back in my camera all I am getting is well nothing basically, it's not registering that there is any footage on there at all (and there is).

Was I an idiot to believe this could ever be possible or is there some way round it? Please do tell me oh clever people of the interweb.

Thanks

What model is your digital 8??
Not all digital 8 models will play back analogue hi-8 or 8mm tapes.

Sorry, that one won't work.
You would need the TRV240e to play back hi-8 and 8mm analogue tapes.
