Playing avi, mpeg on Pocket PC using Windows Media

Sep 27, 2004 6:52PM PDT

Hi I'm using the hp1940, and the default windows media player, and for video I'm able to play only wmv. files. Other video files like avi. and mpeg. are not playable. Does this have anything to do with not having available codecs to play those files? If yes/no, what can be done?

The PDA population is still very small compared to the PC world so I do not expect the proliferation and porting of the needed CODEC. The PDA is quite different so here's the workaround. TRANSCODE the .AVI you want into the supported WMV format. I'm just guessing you would use Windows Movie Maker. I do not expect all to be usable or transcode.
