PLAYER DECISION HELP!!

Oct 1, 2007 12:26PM PDT

I am stuck in an endless loop. Here is my dilemma...

Should I get an:
iPod 80GB (5g)
iPod nano 8GB (3g)
Zune 30GB

I have an XP MCE (w rollup 2), and have software to convert WMV to MP4.

How many 30minute TV shows can I fit on it (scaled to window size)?
How about a 2.5 hr movie?

I'm kinda in a hurry.
Thanks,
Nate

for videos I won't recommend any of these
the screens are rather small and have low resolution and color count

I would agree, but I will be getting one of those free through my company, I just have to pick one, and I want a good one for video, then music, then pics.

I agree there are better, but when it's free...yeah.

Get the iPod 80GB
Zune's are just plain bad
supports bad format's, bad proprietary software, and the wifi is a gimmick

Your choice may be complex

Are you primarily watching TV shows? Then you'll probably want something with a bigger screen than any of those three. My preference is for the iPod touch simply because of the interface, but you could also consider the Archos 605 for sheer screen size.

If you're not perturbed by 2.5-inch screen, consider the 80GB iPod (I'd spring for the classic if possible). It's still sharp enough for a lot of video, and iTunes has a specific TV Shows section you can use to organize your clips -- can't do that with Windows Media Player.

Watch Microsoft over the next couple of days, too. They're likely to replace the Zune. It may not be any better for video, but it may help sway your decision.

I'm more into video, but I like music and the pics. I think the one listed is the classic, I think. Is there a new Zune on the way? I'm not sure how up to date my company's prize catalog is, but then it does have the nano (3g), I'll try to get a hold of them to see. So you'd go ipod 80gb.

for video....

If you are an ipod fan and nothing i say would change your mind... then go for the ipod 80gb 5 gen.... the classic doesnt let you put video out unless you buy another propietary cable... (the 5g let you by pluging a standar RCA cable and using the colors in other order)

But if you let somebody recommend you other plyers.. then you should look for the archos... yeah the one that is in every mouth right now... you can live with the basic start... and if you like to spend for the rest features... well thats up to you...

I actually like the older models (I own an AV500) which I think is the best they've made... since is all standard, removable battery, and includes every accesory you would most likely need... but its not the best advice to tell you to buy an "old" model... specially from archos... they stop supporting as soon as they release the next one...

Anyway look outside the box... (the apple/microsoft box) before taking the desicion... there are great video players.....

I would prefer the Creative Zen over the Ipod nano (3g) anytime... just because the SD expansion slot......

Hope it was helpfull and on time... and I am almost anti ipod but between ipod and zune... go for ipod...
