problaly not unless the standalone player will support ram disk (I have seen some but not too many). I have been looking for software that will burn mp3 in a dvd format(if there is such a thing..hehe) but no such luck.

I do archived some of my mp3 in a dvd disk. But hey..3 to 6 hours per cd disk is good enough for me. There is another solution for the problem is to get a 5 disks dvd player which would be plenty long.

The short answer is Yes, it can be done.
The long answer is that there are a lot of variables. DVD+R or DVD-R Burner. Type and/or firmware of playback deck. I have burned a DVD+R disk full of mp3's as DATA, which play back on a cheapo portable DVD player/viewer my son has. Since a DVD can hold 1000+ MP3's I would suggest putting them in several folders if the player supports folder browsing.
You will just have to try the different combinations unitl you find one that works for you.

I have just found a standalone player (not portable) that plays mp3 on a dvd disk. It's a "Philips DVP642", it will also plays movies in DIVX format as well.

Something just comes to mind what Sony just came out with recently maybe of interest to you (minidisc dvd player). Some questions were posted here not long ago.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
