Clarification Request
Was that Scorpian Saver?

If so it's part of the software bundle that Download.com seems to be promoting along with other titles.

I could be wrong but for now, it's a fact that the download sites are bundling these things. Scorpion Saver however is not a virus but today I'm finding newer computer users to classify PUPs as a virus.

If you want to keep to the strict definition of a virus, it's not a virus but a PUP. Here's a word on PUPs.

And here's a virus definition.

You can see one thing is not the other but are you seeing folk that don't want to slice it this finely?

I don't recall the name as it is now removed. There were several including connect which installed in IE and Chrome and kept returning although it was removed in the control panel and the settings for the browsers. I think these are all gone after reboots and several attempts. One attempt stated that it couldn't find the registry key to uninstall.

I thought that cnet and download.com checked for these malwares or PUP's.
