Plasma TV purchase

Feb 21, 2006 11:54PM PST

What is the best way to purchase a Plasma TV. I go to the stores and for the money I have I like the Phillips 9630A. I read reviews and they seem to be just okay. Do I need to rely on reviews as much as anything or should I go with what I like the looks of in the store. I know you get what you pay for but I really need a 42 inch and don't see a real need to spend $4000 for a TV. I also have Dish network, is this a concern? Thanks for any help with this matter

Easy answer, only two concerns. . .

Reliability and what looks good to you. Read up on the product reliability and look at it in the store. Have them put it on an HD program and an SD program. Whatever looks good to you as you'll be the one living with it.

Dish Network? I've had it since it hit the market in about '98 and wouldn't think about switching. It gives great performance on my 5 HD TVs.

Panasonic has about 50% of the market, they did earn this, are other brands good? Yes, I have seen the Phillips at Sam's club. good picture.
Also check out the Panasonic. Costco has coupons for many TVs, many different ones thur March. John
