Plasma TV Audio/Visual connection

I have a Samsung Plasma TV. My dvd player connected thru AV2 no longer shows up as being connected. In the "source" screen AV2 doen't show up as a choice. When i disconnect the RCA video from the DVD player the AV2 source choice becomes visible. When I reconnect the video the AV2 "source" choice disappears.

Things I've tried:
1. Connected the player to AV1: same result
2. Used new A/V cables: same result
3. Component connections : same result. The Component1 "source" choice disappears
4. Connect to another TV, DVD player works.

Any help appreciated. Am I missing a setting on the TV that would cause this behavior?

Joel
