Question

Plasma TC-P50U2 stuck in zoom mode

by diholiday / May 22, 2014 12:46 AM PDT

TV has been fine for years. Suddenly it is zoomed in so that heads are chopped off and anything written at the bottom of the screen won't show up. I spent an hour on chat with a tech rep. He said I need someone to come out.

It has to be a setting. When I toggle through the format options hitting the button on the panasonic remote, the closest I can get to a normal picture is "full" but even that is still zoomed in. It does this for DVR shows, On Demand, regular tv. However, if I play a DVD it is not in zoom. We have cable in two adjacent rooms and the TV in the other room is fine, so it can't be anything to do with the cable.

We had new carpet installed and they had to move the tv. I can't remember if this was happening prior to that. I thought maybe something happened when it got hooked back up, but I just don't know. Thanks for any help you can offer. I'd like to avoid paying for a service call.

Thanks, but the screens that are supposed to come up when I follow these steps don't on my TV. Maybe because it is an older model, I don't know.

But I can't find the model year so I tried and failed. I know folk don't want to share private details so time to call it in?

I bought it new in Dec 2010 so I think it's a 2010. I'll see if I can find that specific year and model. Thanks. The steps in that link you sent are what the chat guy had me go through and it didn't work. Sad

Good luck in finding it. If the maker can't find it, it's doubtful I will. In the future please consider posting what details you feel don't expose you too much. I know folk want to keep information private and I'll respect that but sometimes it means I can't look too deeply into it.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
