Plasma Audio Problems

Aug 3, 2005 11:57PM PDT

As I am watching TV on my 42" Panasonic Plasma,th42px500, the sound seems to get louder and softer without me adjusting anything. No surround sound set up, just the tv speakers. Cable TW 8300HD, with a component connection. Is it the TV or the cable box?

Sounds like you got your TV installed. Congratulations.

To figure out why the audio isn't working properly I recommend the following trouble shooting.

Try a different TV. As long as you're using the same cable and connections this will tell you if it's the TV or something else. Sounds like you want to eliminate the TV as the problem, so I'd start with this then replace the cable and finally the audio source to narrow it down.

Good luck.

You weren't specific on where you're signal comes from and when the sound changes occur. Commercials always seem to be louder than the programs themselves. Some movies and sports do tend to get louder and softer depending on the surround within the movie (even if you didn't set up a surround system, some movies still vary because of it). I'd say try plugging in a cd player into the AV inputs (for sound) and play a cd that you know the volumn levels. If it still varies, then it's your TV. If not, then your TV is fine. Luckily, Panasonic comes with a one year in-home warranty.
