Question

Pixelated columns

by wmbell20 / November 24, 2011 5:47 PM PST

My Samsung LN-S4095D 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, purchased in 2007, has started to show 3 "columns" of white dots or pixels running vertically up the screen. I initially thought (hoped) it was my Comcast HD DVR box but I am noticing the dots or pixels when I play DVDs but only on the right side of screen. No clue where to begin to troubleshoot this and fix it. I read in other threads about the white dot issue with a chip replacement to fix it but not sure if my dilemma is the same. any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response. I've already tried replacing the HDMI cable with no luck. The pixelation or matrix-like dots that appear on the right side only appear when I play DVDs and it is hooked up via s-video. When I am watching regular broadcasts TV the pixelation gets worse and covers the whole monitor in 3 columns and in a cascading fashion. I also have a WII and the pixels/snow/dots appear as well. Stumped!

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
