Pity the poor Gestetner company. Dominant for so long

and then just turfed out onto the scrapheap of history.

I caught a tiny clip of a movie, probably Fast Times at Ridgemont High where the kids in unison all picked up the hand outs on their desks and sniffed them as if there was some magical intoxicant in reproduction fluid. I remember doing that exact thing all through public and high school though they were changing over to some other reproduction system for exams when I finished. I wonder now what its toxicity might have been. Those funny things that define an experience and then fall out of use, and are forgotten. Hippies used to try to get hold of the machines to produce the first underground newsletters which later developed int the underground press for about 10 or 12 years. Though I note that the famous Georgia Straight in Vancouver is still alive and well. There are two gay papers, and Now and the Eyopener as sort of youthful trend newspapers here in Toronto. I really like them because you get things out of them that are not covered in any other form.

A collection of duplicating stories is hereby invited.

of digital copier companies that includes Ricoh, Lanier, and Savin. Modern copiers are fast and cheap-per-copy, so the old-fashioned duplicator is no longer a viable player.
I imagine the non-Ricoh brands will be phased out.
