This is all over the web along with other issues.
1. Samsung TVs usually reserve HDMI Port 2 for ARC. Check your TV's manual and use the right port.
2. AGAIN and let's not repeat this over and over, ARC is not a sure thing. If you feel it should work, pack and return products that don't work. It's been beat to no end and let's not repeat this.
3. OK, there are issues about 5.1 from most TVs if the source is HDMI. This is downright confusign at first so I'll stop here and write that 99.99% of the time when you play some DVD or BR, and you use ARC, you can bet you wont' get 5.1.
4. That's a lot to process in items 1 to 3.
5. Now when I get through all that I then hook up the optical link from TV to receiver. This will get me 5.1 for OTA and APPS. For other sources I must play them THROUGH THE RECEIVER.
As to why, it's an industry screw up. They are trying so hard to protect content that we end up with half baked systems.
All, I am looking desperately to you for any advice on this issue, as it hurts my head for few weeks now
I have a Pioneer receiver VSX-930 to which I connected my PC and my Samsung UE40F5500AW Smart TV.
I also connected my smartphone via WiFi.
Everything works fine, with the exception of TV sound to the receiver speakers.
The configuration is the following:
- 5.1 sound system connected to the receiver
- PC connected to the receiver via HDMI cable in the DVD port of the receiver
- TV connected to the receiver via HDMI cable in the Main 1 HDMI Out port of the receiver.
The ARC function is ON in the receiver Menu, and the Anynet ON in TV menu. The TV speakers are set to "Receiver". The receiver turns on/off when the TV does, and the TV volume is controlled via the receiver remote.
Problem is that the TV sound does not go to the receiver 5.1 speakers.
The PC picture goes on TV and sound goes on the receiver speakers.
I tried all 3 HDMI ports on the TV, with 3 different HDMI cables, plugin/out TV and receiver, power on/off, etc.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks,
George
