diff 4350 and 4351
Mar 13, 2005 8:34AM PST

from what i understand, best buy always changes the last digit of the model number to make it a best-buy product and to avoid the hassles of price matching. They did this with the 4341 (which was the same as the 4340) and i can only assume that the 4351 (which they have for $5600) is the same as the 4350 (that i just bought for a few bucks shy of 4K from MonitorOutlet)

4351

That's good color, thanks. I saw it at best buy the other day and the picture was incredible. I also like how the receiver is a component piece. the tag said 5500 but the guy said i'd get free shipping and 800 in rebates, and a wall mount. If i get it Im prob overpaying but I'm kind of sceptical buying something like this online. thanks again

Pioneer 4350 pricing
Mar 13, 2005 9:30AM PST

You could do a lot better on pricing. Check Monitor Outlet and TV Authority, both of whom are authorized Pioneer Dealers. I ordered mine from TV Authority and it should be here this week. I agree, the picture is fantastic! The new color filter really made the screen pop with color. Good luck

Wall-mount or stand
Mar 18, 2005 2:46AM PST

Hi emcgoler,

It's great to know lot of people are considering Pioneer plasmas. I thought it's just BEST BUY marketting for some kind of benefit from Pioneer by selling their product that BB guys are encouraging people to buy Pioneer plasmas.

Now, did you consider Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P of TH-42XVS30U before deciding to go for Pioneer ?

Also, I wanted to ask you if you are planning to wallmount your pioneer and if you bought the wallmount accessories from Monitor outlet. Also, are you planning to mount it on the wall yourself ?

Thanks...Happy

I also looked at the Panasonic TH-42PX25-U/P but.........
Mar 19, 2005 10:06PM PST

I went with the the Pioneer 4350, w/the table top swivel stand from TV Authority. I really liked Monitor Outlet.com but the no risk 30 day return feature from TV Authority was my safety net in case something went wrong and I didn't like the TV. Just ship it back with no restocking fees etc. I set it up in my bedroom and it looks awesome. I'm waiting for the new Dish 942 HD receiver to come out, (which BTW is listed on their web site now. Their customer service reps told me yesterday that it will be officially introduced next week) and this thing will really rock the room. I preferred the Pioneer over the Panasonic due to a few reasons:
1.) the 4350 has many new features previously only available with the Elite series like a new color filter which claims to enhance the contrast ratio and color brightness; cable card slot, dual tuners, HDMI etc
2.) it is the latest offering (3rd generation I think) from Pioneer
3.) many of the high end A/V stores all say terrific things about Pioneer plasma's (including CNET)in terms of durability and performance
4.) looks are stunning and very high tech even when turned off
5.) the TH-42PX25 is an "older" model meaning they are about to release the next version any day (TH-42PX50U/P)
6.) Liked the idea of the separate media box (even though it does have a faint "buzz" to it) in case something went wrong with the TV.....might not have to ship the entrire unit back, just the box
7.) Every one claims the "black levels" with the Panasonic can not be beat, but to my eye, Pioneer looks just as good and the difference is not noticeable.

Good luck with what ever your choose, but no buyers remorse here so far!

PIONEER IT IS !
Mar 20, 2005 9:27PM PST

I went to Best Buy and Circuit City again on Friday evening. Circuit city just got the PIONEER PDP5050HD last week and they said great things about pioneer...the guy at cc told me he liked the panasonic th42px25u/p until they got pioneer. So, finally I made my decision on Friday -PIONEER IT IS !

YOu are right - I found the black levels on pioneer as good as on panasonic. Now, could anybody suggest me few good places (on internet) where I can order Pioneer. I know monitoroutlet.com and bestbuyplasma.com are couple of them.

5th Gen panel
Apr 12, 2005 10:57PM PDT

to clarify:4350= 43 (inchs) 5(5th gen) 0(nothing) the diff is the 4350 screen is actually not glass and it has a blue tint, notice how the table lamps in your bedroom dont reflect off of it. If black levels are that critical, then its panasonic, but I dont see it. This set has minimal issues, but extend the warranty and buy from a authorized dealer. Bottom line, you want the bes technology, quality etc. for the $$, and if you pay no more than $4000 out hte door for this panel, your good to go.

wrong
Mar 20, 2005 3:32AM PST

best buy doesnt do that. ive worked there for years, and ive price matched many a pioneer plasma in my days. what the difference between the 50 and the 51 most likely is, was a slight model change. such as, sharp did the same thing when they decided to no longer make the speakers on their 32 inch LCD removeable. they changed the model number by one. best buy cannot change the model number of a product, pioneer and their affiliates can.

Didn't mean to offend

I didn't mean to say anything bad about BB. I got to know same thing you said from a BB guy over the weekend. No offense, BB has been my favorite store and I have made many purchases in the past from BB.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 4345 AND 4351 (PIONEER PLASMA)
Mar 18, 2005 2:41AM PST

Hi andydog,

I just talked with Pioneer people and found that there is no difference between 4350 and 4351. In BEST BUY,
4350 is displayed as 4351.

I am also considering buying a plasma tv (42-43"). I also found following from Pioneer rep.

PDP-4350HD - Has built-in tuner
PRO-810HD - Doesn't have tuner but it's an Elite product with 2 year warranty instead of 1 year. It has enhanced video processing chips and stuff which technically is good but not noticeale to human eyes.

Please let me know if you find anything more on PDP4350HD.

4350vs4351
Jul 12, 2005 4:20AM PDT

I am shopping for a 43'' Pioneer since the box eliminates spaghetti to the wall mount.
Just returned from Best Buy where I was told 4350 was the older model. 4350 only had one port for HDMI? so you had to choose between the cable or DVD being HD.
Was told the tuner was built into the 4351 and the speakers were black instead of silver on the older model.
Was told the 4351 has a mounting bracket, that most people don't tilt mount anyway, so I don't need to purchase mounting hardware. I am beginning to wonder was is accurate.
I'm kind of a neophyte at this-- I would like to order online to save some bucks but am getting a bit gunshy of ordering something unseen.

How do I find a reputable online dealer?

The choice seems to be to the 4351 (or 4350 if it is the same thing).

Would welcome any information/suggestions.
Thanks

Pioneer Model # differences
Jul 12, 2005 1:30PM PDT

I am new to this forum but also have been giving the PDP-4350/51 a closer look and have decided that they are the same. Check out all the specs on this model at any of the above recommended sites. Input and Output connections are also important to me, like the 2 HDMI inputs and the PC input.

I have also found that this model qualifies for a $500 rebate from Pioneer. Just make sure you buy from a Autherized Internet Consumer Plasma Dealer. They are listed on the coupon (fine Print!)
My best price sofar is $3275--includes free shipping

authorized dealer for that price?
Jul 13, 2005 8:04AM PDT

That price sounds great. Where did you find it?

Read a review that said the Pioneer 4350 has fuzziness with rapid motion and not very good blacks.
What is your take on that? It is making me second guess my choice.
