Pioneer PDP-5010 Plasma

by mark de / March 29, 2008 2:00 AM PDT

My wife recently won a PDP-5010. We would be more excited except for the fact that we bought a Sony KDL-46W3000 for Christmas. We really don't need two large televisions. What has me confused is nowhere on the Pioneer box or manual is the term "Kuro" used. Does that mean we won last years model? Wasn't the "Kuro" line a significant improvement? Any information or advice would be helpful. We watch mostly digital cable, would either TV be significantly better? Thanks.

You got a Kuro....

Yes it is a Kuro. The 5010 is the 1080p version of the 5080, which I own. You have a fantastic TV, (better than the Sony in my opinion). If I were you, I'd put one in my bedroom, and the other one in the living room, or where ever you have it. That way, if you want to watch one show and your wife wants to watch another show, you both get to watch your show on a great TV. Congrats on winning it, hopefully now you can get excited.

Dude, you have won like the best HDTV on the market, . . take the Sony and do what you want with it, but the Pioneer is in a class all by itself. Just make sure you get it professionally calibrated, and your good to, why can't I win something like that? . . I can't even win at checkers with my 5 year old.
