Question

Pioneer DVR 113NP Recorder

Jun 29, 2012 8:34AM PDT

This recorder has just been installed to our computer this week at a computer repair shop in town and we would like to know if anyone can tell us anything regarding this recorder; Pioneer DVR 113NP Recorder. We have looked on the internet and have not been able to find out how old it is or how much it should have cost us. We are a bit concerned that we may have been way overcharged as he charged us $50.00 for the unit alone (not including labor).
Thanks in advance,

Answer
50 is not bad for a retail price.

Here the install runs 120 US dollars. I'm sure you can find cheaper drives and if you were used to working on a PC then installing it requires a philips screwdriver most of the time.

No one can guess how old it is.

http://club.myce.com/f87/pioneer-dvr1910ls-dvr113np-268474/#.T-48dh35D24 pegs this model as around 2009 but that means nothing. It could have been on the shelf for a few years. Again, I can find drives from over 100 down to about 30 bucks so 50 is a fair price for a drive.

And labor to install here is 120 for the hour. No matter how easy it is.

I'm a big advocate of do it yourself for desktop optical drive swaps. If price is the issue, learn how to do the simple repairs first.

And again, in 2009 this drive may have retailed for 99 bucks.

Thanks!! I typically do these types of repairs/replacements myself, but we had the computer in for other issues and on the day we picked it up he had informed us that he had replaced the other drive; without getting our consent first. We accepted it as we knew needed a new drive anyway. We figured we had paid more than we had to, we just weren't sure how much we have over paid or if even this unit was worth purchasing. As we have found no information on the internet only complaints.
Thanks again and hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
