Pioneer AVIC-900DVD satnav help needed urgently

i have a Pioneer AVIC-900DVD satnav, the promlem i have is that all i get on the srceen is the pointer no map picture, the pointer moves when im driveing but still no map picture.
if i go to points of intrest it does find them but then yet again all that does is leaves loads of pointers on my screen but no map ,please please can someone please tell me what is wrong ,could it be a bad sat nav disc or laser ?many thanks for all your help
