General discussion

Pioneer 5020 anyone has it?

Oct 27, 2008 5:31PM PDT

Anyone has any bad experiences from it? And also, when doing a search @ Google the prices vary A LOT! From $4000 down to $2000 aproximately. Are they the same sets? If so, why that difference?

Other items for sale also vary like that

My advice is to also consult with a specialty forum such as AVS to locate a decent price/dealer near where you live. Buying from the less than reputable online sources to save a couple hundred dollars can be more trouble than it's worth IMHO.

If it only was a couple of $100, but it turns out to be up to a couple of $1000!

See the links that I provided in my other post.

it's on sale now for $3000. Not able to compare what you saw; I would say $2000 is a darn good price (but be sure it is identical TV though).

in/near Center City, Philidephia; If you live close to that area, that might be the places to check it out. If not then you have to think about the shipping charge and in case of return, etc.

Sure, but you might need post-sales support...

...and possibly have to deal with a return or a damaged shipment. At that point you might regret shopping online by price only.

Do yourself a favor and read up in the PDP forum @ AVS. Many folks have had their eyes on the Kuro line and have the exact concerns you do regarding this purchase. Check it out, the Kuro's all the rage over there right now. The general accepted price I've seen discussed most is around $2500 ballpark.

PANASONIC, including KUROS screens; I'd be looking at few PANNYs

Can you tell the difference?

PIONEER ELITE series has PIONEER electronics;

the rest have PANASONIC innards.

Best shopping,

Riverledge.
