pinnacle 9 firewire will not capture video

I have a digital camcorder, Pinnacle 9.43 software with firewire card. Windows XP sp2. I have used this system to capture video many times but the last time was over six months ago. Now when I try to capture I get the audio but no preview video. When I capture the audio will play back but no video. I have the program set with the camera as the capture source. The camera is connected to the firewire card. I can see the IE1394 in the devise manager and it says it is enabled. I tried to run the AM Capture in the Pinnacle program and I get an message "cannot render video capture stream." I have an ATI Radeon video card and did update the driver a few months ago.
