Question

Pictures on computer can't find

Aug 26, 2018 1:44PM PDT

I just tried to transfer pictures from my Smartphone to my computer. Supposedly transferred, but can not find now that it is done. Are they in the DCIM folder I can't access? My Phone connected to my computer states nothing to transfer. so they must be on my computer. But I've spent hours looking around for help and tips. Nothing makes any sense. Kris

Clarification Request
how are you connecting?

Some USB cords to the computer are only for charging, have only the + and - lines in them. This is for security when using a USB port on any public charging station that is a computer from being able to access your data. You need to be sure you have a 4 wire cable that also allows data flow from the phone in order to access and copy the data on it.

Connection...
Aug 26, 2018 2:05PM PDT

I am connecting with a cable that one end fits in phone (Android) other end fits in (desk top) computer. It worked find 4 hours ago to get the pictures (supposedly copied) to the computer. And after that I looked in picture folder, etc. and can not find newer pictures phone that were not on computer, prior. When I tried to do the same procedure again (4 hours later) computer tells me nothing to transfer. I looked at my phone...pictures are still on it.

As for the other connection...the phone to charge has a separate (white) cable with one end plug to the wall socket for electricity and the other end plugs into the phone. That works fine and I do it every morning first thing.

Kris

PS Is there a way to access the DCIM folder under a different name on the computer in areas of the files/software program where I should not be?
I admit I an very limited on computer understanding..

not just for charging. NEVER "move" pictures, always "copy" them, just in case you lose them in both places. If you know the file name of one picture on the phone, then do a computer wide search function in the file browser for it. Maybe you accidentally put them in some other folder.
