Pictures always to dark

Sep 29, 2004 1:58PM PDT

I have a Canon Powershot S45. Why is it that with every picture I take I have to always lighten it? It looks good when I take it and when I transfer it to my computer it is always to dark.

Hi unicorn,

Did you check your camera manual to see whether you might need to make some adjustments to the settings?

Some cameras may not have that much setting options and I have not tried Canon ever before.

Last alternative I suppose would be using Photo enhancing software such as Adobe Photoshop, JASC (bought by Corel now I think), Auto fx, I'm sure there are many other good ones out there.

The problem might be that your monitor is not set correctly. I use a program called EasyRGB-PC, but several programs have monitor adjustment add-ons such as Adobe Gamma (from the control panel if it's available).
I have a Canon S20 as well as a Digital Rebel, both have great pictures straight out of the camera, but when shooting RAW files you should expect to make adjustments.
Do you have problems with images taken on a sunny day? Or just indoors? Are you using any filters? Have you tried asking the question at Canon's website <grin>?
Good Luck!

You might want to try this take a picture under near perfect conditions, outside preferably , and print it on your printer,(unedited) hold it up to your monitor adjust your monitor as close to the picture as possible, you will get what you see, hope this helps. B Bob
