Picture Size "Fit" doesn't

When playing movies on a Samsung LA55B650TIF, from a USB HDD, the Tools menu allows you to select 2 picture sizes ?Fit? and ?Original?. However ?fit? only produces a small half size image across the middle of the screen. (Original produces a postage stamp image). What?s with this?

Is there a way to get the image full screen?

If I play these movie files from my external Western Digital Media Player they work fine.
