General discussion

picture setting

Dec 13, 2008 7:58AM PST

hi i wounder is the factory setting on the samsung ln46a650 is correct. would u change anything on mode dynamic, standard,or movie? to make them more perfect? like reducing the sharpness on dynamic or like in movie mode make it warm 1 instead of warm 2 for example. i have trouble time in putting in the right setting for each mode i wish there is a blog for the perfect picture for each mode.

my second question is that whats the different between MOVIE mode and Cinema in entertainment. is one mode better than the other. which one would u prefer?

oh yea i notice that all the mode have auto motion 120 on medium. when would u have to lower or raise that. or even turn it off thanks. i just got this tv yesterday.

PerfectSetting,

Thanks for your support of Samsung products.

Most people tune their televisions using the Standard settings, and if view television mostly in a darker setting, you might try starting with Movie mode. Dynamic is ideal for very few situations.

Movie vs. Cinema is a subtle variation of brightness and color schemes. Really, most of the idealness of settings is one factor: your preference.

120Hz Auto Motion Plus allows you to toggle the amount of processing that the television will do. They are input specific, so if you change it to high with your cable box, and low on your Blu-Ray player, they will stay at that setting. So again, it's preference to what you think looks best.

I hope that helps, and if you have any other questions, please let me know.

PerfectSetting,

In this case, I would suggest that you try turning AutoMotion Plus off completely.

Let me know if this helps.

yup thats much better. thanks

so i was wondering. the 120 auto motion setting is for fast moving things on the t.v then? for example if i set it on medium for the movie title "Fast and the Furious" it will look good only when they race with the cars and then look bad when they are not racing?

Variables...

PerfectSetting,

Technically, the entire movie should look great from start to finish. Things that can cause issues include how the original movie was transferred to the format, and the quality of the film stock used by the producer, among other things that can cause picture imperfections. Processing these signals can either improve the imperfectiobns, or cause them to be worse.

There are different levels of processing for that reason - one input may look great on high, and another may look great with it off. Toggling isn't just for "fast action" (though that's the original intent), but it should still look good in "slow action" scenes too without having to switch back and forth.

yea i like the original factory setting of red better on Standard with edge enhancement turn on. i watch espn HD alot and the setting u gave me made the red more darker.

with that setting it does make my channel 100 noggin "not HD" alot more darker and richer witch is a plus. but thats is for my kids so i left it the setting the same as before.

is there a way to change the setting leaving the red the same? nice and bright on HD?.

how do u want tv shows on hd like HEROS. or any other movie like HBO HD .ect to make the movie or shows not to like TOO realistic. when its too realistic is almost like its a fake. thanks sorry for my poor english.
