Picture merging

Sep 10, 2009 5:02PM PDT

Guys, I was wondering if anybody could help me here. Is there a free software you can use to merge several pics (digital camera mainly)into one pic? Like if you want to make a pic consisting of say five different-size pics of your wedding, first pregnancy, first baby -- you know? I Googled this and found something called Picture Merger or Picture Merge Genius I think, but the problem is it ruins the resolution of the pic if you try to decrease its size, whereby the faces go all flat and such.

Much obliged for anyone who could help me with this. Have a great day!

all I could get was a free trial download of Corel Media One. I downloaded it but no merging facility or offer of Paintshop X. I guess it expired?

Sorry but look at the date of the posts. The offer is no more.

Look again at alternatives.

I downloaded Paint.Net and have found that merging and layering are a similar concept, so have solved my initial need. Trimming off the excess background still confuses me. I have to save as JPG then go into IrfanView to trim it. I'll work it out.
