Question

Picture Issue LG Oled55B6V

Feb 19, 2017 11:41AM PST

Hi,

Overall the picture on my new TV is fantastic, however I have an issue that I have not been able to solve.

If there is a 'busy' background, such as a hedgerow or buildings and a person is moving at speed in front of that background, there is a shimmer in front of the person, giving the appearance of a bow wave moving ahead of them.

Is this just a setting problem that I can adjust and if so, how do I do that ?

Thanks.

Answer
I've seen that on compressed video on many sets.

Since that's a compression artifact the only fix is at the source. I find BluRay to give the cleanest video so far.

Thanks for your reply and if it's not something I can resolve through settings, then I'm quite disappointed that such a highly technical tv can produce such an annoying image distortion, that wasn't present on my old steam driven Sony.

Sorry if I didn't cover this issue in depth.

Compression artifacts are a new thing that came with digital TV. The only fixes are low compressed content. For some reason OTA (over the air) content seems very good. BluRay can be great unless the publisher overcompressed content.

As it's a compression artifact, it's not a sure thing it can be removed. I've seen artifacts for over a decade now and at first I thought "consumers will not accept this" but was proven wrong.

Sorry to say I'm pleased someone others oled owners are having the same issues! Thought I was imagining it especially when it's occurring on my replacement tv. The first being replaced by Curry's for poor pictur quality and motion blur agreed by the store. I've been told by lg I'm expecting to much from my 2 week old replacement tv. The motion blur is acceptable and within the parameters of the spec! Who am I to argue just the person who has to watch an inferior picture!! I requested an onsite visit from Lg " catagoric no"! Surly that's better than retiring a second to to store. Not interested felt like I was being told I should have gone to Specsavers or put up and shut up!!! Honestly I've took a step back with this technology, my Samsung uh75000 was far superior. Looks like tv will be returned tomorrow unless someone has more knowledge than LG??

I worry about this surly.

Motion processing is not up to expectations for most. I continue to turn it off so I get to see the original content rather than a smeared result.
